• Abstract: a taxonomic review of nine taxa (six species) of the chaenorhinum rubrifolium group (Antirrhineae-scrophulariaceae) from western mediterranean area with a key and new diagnostic characters is presented. for each taxon the correct name, synonyms, description, distribution and ecology are indicated, as well as some comments about its nomenclature and typification. two nomenclatural novitates are also proposed, chaenorhinum reyesii (vicioso & pau in pau) benedi comb. et stat nov. (.ident. c. rubrifolium var. reyesii) and c. grandiflorum subsp. carthaginense (pau) benedi comb. et stat nov. (.ident. c. grandiflorum var. carthaginense). a new species is described for north africa: c. suttonii benedi & p. montserrat. the specific rank of c. formenterae gand. and the combination of c. rupestre (guss.) maire are revindicated.
